New Zeiss Technology
When these special treated lenses are exposed UV radiation, billions of photochromic dye molecules in the lens begin to change their shape. This reaction is what causes the lenses to darken. The latest PhotoFusion X lenses use a completely NEW photochromic system. The dyes react much faster in a strong, yet more open carrier matrix. What does this all mean?
It means the lenses darken up to 60 percent faster than the previous generation of Zeiss PhotoFusion. This makes a huge difference to you when you wear your glasses. They go to clear fast when going from outside to inside.
David Sinnott, Head of Product Management at Zeiss Vision Care confirms, “Many spectacle wearers appreciate the convenience of self-tinting eyeglass lenses, but fear that the clearing process is too slow and that they are literally ‘in the dark’ indoors for a long time. With the new generation of photochromic lenses, we have succeeded in accelerating the clearing up to 80 percent faster than the previous generation.”
Great Optics & Enhanced UV Protection
With today’s on-the-go lifestyle, eyeglass wearers probably are familiar with the problem of having to switch between 2 pair of glasses. Going from clear to sunglasses depending on the situation. A lot of the time their prescription sunglasses are not at hand when they are needed. Less than 22 % of people always wear sunglasses when they are outside in the sun. New PhotoFusion X lenses offer the advantage of UV protection outdoors without the need for separate glasses. The lenses provide UV protection of up to 400 nanometers in any activation state, whether clear or dark. What makes these new PhotoFusion lenses so special? The new X generation photochromic lenses are based on BlueGuard lens material. This material selectively absorbs UV radiation and potentially harmful blue light. The eyeglass lenses absorb up to a whopping 94 percent of potentially harmful blue light outdoors when activated, and 50 percent indoors when they are clear.
Blue Light from digital devices and indoor lighting such as LED’s does not directly threaten eye health period. But, with some people it can help visual comfort and well-being. A study from 2021 confirms that 9 out of 10 surveyed wearers of lenses with BlueGuard say they experience less digital eyestrain. This new combination BlueGuard base lens material and the new X photochromic matrix makes them an easy choice when deciding on which transitional lenses to choose.
